That's a bit of an upset.
Achievement in Art Direction: "Hugo."
Dang, two right out of the gate!
I'm not a 3D advocate, but "Hugo" was absolutely stunning.
So I'm one for two on my predictions now.
Could the early strength for Hugo translate to a big upset? It's possible, but unlikely, considering its lack of acting nominations.
Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez are up to hand out the award for Achievement in Costume Design.
Costume Design: "The Artist."
That's expected. First Oscar of the night for The Artist.
Sounds like a great game at Gill.
Achievement in Makeup: "The Iron Lady."
Four Oscars in, and here's the tally: Two for Hugo, one for The Artist and one for The Iron Lady.
Celebrities are talking about their first movies. What was yours?
The first movie I recall seeing was a "Fantasia" revival when I was a kid at Graumann's Chinese.
The first movie I snuck off to see by myself was Diamonds Are Forever, so I'm kind of with Adam Sandler on that one.
First movie: King & I in 1956. I was 3 years old and apparently reached out and rubbed the head of the bald man in front of me, thinking it was Yul Brynner
I didn't actually see a James Bond movie until "For Your Eyes Only."
And I remember watching Sheena Easton perform the theme on ... the Oscars!
What was your first movie @spencernicepots?
Sandra Bullock to present Best Foreign Language Film.
47-46 Ducks with 14:11 to go in the game
Best Foreign Language Film: "A Separation" (Iran).
First movie from Iran's booming film industry to win the Oscar.
I believe "A Separation" is on tap to play soon at the Darkside.
Here comes Christian Bale. Will he require subtitles?
Bale's presenting Best Supporting Actress.
OSU will not receive an Oscar tonight. They're trailing 54-51 with 10:16 left in the game. Sorry about the confusion. We promised two events in one blog, since the schedulers had the Civil War game at the same time as the Oscars.
Six Oscars in, and here's the update: Two for Hugo and one each for The Artist, The Iron Lady, A Separation and The Help.
Although it would be interesting to know how OSU and UO graduates have fared at the Oscars.
